About us

3D Engineers was set up with one primary aim: to prove that modern computer techniques could be utilised to save car restorers, enthusiasts and manufacturers considerable time, money and aggravation whilst improving the quality of the final product - be it a bracket or a whole car body.

We do not want to replace traditional craftsmanship, but rather complement and assist it.

So why are we the best?

  • Having invented and developed this niche area, we are the market leaders. To maintain this position and continue to meet our clients needs and expectations we are constantly refining our techniques, introducing new equipment and innovating to ensure we remain the best in the World.
  • We have a constantly increasing automobilia archive that currently holds over 10,000 items including pictures, magazines, technical works and rare books that, coupled with the contacts we have cultivated in vehicle museums and marque archives, means that we have the knowledge to ensure your design is as period correct as it can be.
  • We have personal racing, building, driving, designing and ownership experience of almost 200 vehicles from a 1931 Aston Martin International variant through to Bristol engined racing cars and onwards to cars such as the Porsche 911 Speedster.
  • We have arguably more experience than any other firm on the Planet using computers to re-create out of production vehicles and parts using techniques from plans, photographs and laser or white light scanning, through to bringing to life original designs to a customer's unique specification. This proven experience means that you will not be paying for our learning curve.
  • Being skilled in a variety of techniques, and therefore being able to pick the most effective method, saves our clients time and money time and again.
  • We were the first people ever to recreate a complete out of production vehicle in a 3D programme with our nut and bolt re-creation of the 1924 Bugatti Type 35. This project has been acclaimed throughout the World and has now been donated to The Bugatti Trust.
  • Our work has been featured in numerous magazines, blogs, forums and journals. In addition, it has been exhibited at Goodwood Revival and our methods subject to academic critique by Derby University. Additional information can be found on our news pages.
  • The vast majority of our work is conducted "in house" and therefore you do not have to worry about the intellectual property of your vehicle being compromised. All work is completed in confidence and stored off-line to maintain the utmost security for our clients.
  • Our geographical location makes us ideally placed to service clients throughout the European Union. International airports are within easy driving distance. If your preferred method of working is via the Internet, we have developed techniques that enable you to comprehensively review your design wherever you are.

Further vignettes of information expanding on the above points can be found here.
